Class Descriptions:
Begintermediate Doumbek
You know a bunch of rhythms...now what? Let's get "Beyond Baladi". You will learn practical rhythm combinations useful for playing songs and making your drum circle more fun. You will also learn how to add fills and embellishments to make your playing more interesting. This workshop is perfect for anyone who already knows the basic hits and rhythms.
Funky Fusion
The combos presented in this class includes cabaret technique mixed with a spicy blend of tribal style and alternative belly dance fusion topped with Yasmine’s own Funky flare & style that can be used for a variety of modern routines! Funky Fusion blends the power and the beauty of tribal and cabaret!
How to Play a Drum Solo for a Dancer
The drum solo is the climax of any belly dancer show. This is a great time for the dancer and drummer to improvise and communicate. In this workshop, you will learn how to build your own solos and improvising techniques. You will also learn what the dancer is expecting from you and how to play something interesting and exciting for them. This workshop is perfect for drummers who know the basics. This workshop is also great for dancers to learn about the drum solo from the drummer's perspective.
Musicality and Stage Presence
In this class Kalaa will explore this, often overlooked, aspect. Students will engage in discussion and demo’s of proper stage presence and energy exchange. Kalaa will also cover all of the aspects of musicality. Students will be expected to improv along with Kalaa.
Zils Made Easy
Whether you are someone who finds it difficult to walk and play zils at the same time or you are a teacher looking for new techniques to explain the art of playing finger cymbals to your students, this workshop is for you. Taaj breaks down zil playing in easy to digest ways that will have you playing far more than triplets in no time.
